The Abel Santamaría International Airport in central Villa Clara province is benefiting from investments to improve the quality of services.
Works will include paving the 3,000-meter-long runway.
Airport workers are committed to reducing the time passengers stay at the airport to handle 20 flights a week during the peak tourist season that runs from November to April.
The airport was enlarged to receive 600 passengers, three times more than before remodeling works were undertaken.
European and Canadian airlines fly to and from the Abel Santamaría International Airport, using large planes that can sit more than 300 passengers.
The development of tourism in Villa Clara’s northeastern keys demands better air transportation services for vacationers.

Santa Clara is in Villa Clara.
Villa Clara, Cienfuegos and Sancti Spiritus are now what used to be Las Villas.

I am curious, is Sagua la Grande still called that? It was in Las Villas province. That is where I was born and lived until I was 10 when I went to Havana..then to Isla de Pinos when I was 13. I miss my homes so much!!!
