I have just finished reading Christopher Baker’s CUBA by Moon Handbooks. I didn’t think I needed yet another guidebook on Cuba but after reading this book, it is the ONLY guidebook I need on Cuba. I also recommend Mr. Baker’s HAVANA by Moon Handbooks. Honestly, with these two books you don’t need any other guide book. They are VERY through and cover the history, culture, travel and all that is “Cubanidad”. Full disclosure: The publisher sent me a complimentary copy of CUBA but I was not asked to write this article or even comment on the book. I have posted this because I honestly want to recommend these two books to our Havana Journal readers.
Now if we can just get some of our US politicians to read this book, they would have a better understanding of Cuba. (Text below is from Moon.com)

ABOUT THE AUTHOR CHRISTOPHER P. BAKER
Christopher P. Baker was born and raised in Yorkshire, England. He received a B.A. in Geography at University College, London, and master’s degrees in Latin American Studies from Liverpool University and in Education from the Institute of Education, London University. He began his writing career in 1978 as Contributing Editor on Latin America for Land & Liberty, a London-based political journal. In 1980 he received a Scripps-Howard Foundation Scholarship in Journalism to attend the University of California, Berkeley.
Since 1983, Christopher has made his living as a professional travel writer, photographer, lecturer, and tour guide and is acclaimed for his specialist knowledge of Cuba. He has written for more than 150 publications worldwide, including Caribbean Travel & Life, National Geographic Traveler, the Los Angeles Times, and Elle. Christopher has been profiled in USA Today; appears frequently on radio and television talk shows and as a guest-lecturer aboard cruise ships; and has been privileged to address such organizations as the National Press Club, the World Affairs Council, and the National Geographic Society.
His many books include Moon Handbooks Costa Rica, Cuba Classics: A Celebration of Vintage American Automobiles, and Mi Moto Fidel: Motorcycling Through Castro’s Cuba, winner of both the 2002 Lowell Thomas Award for Best Travel Book and the North American Travel Journalist Association’s Grand Prize. His other awards include seven prestigious Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Awards and the 1995 Benjamin Franklin Best Travel Guide Award for Moon Handbooks Costa Rica. I just returned back to Canada from staying with my amigos in Matanzas and Ceibo Mocha. The biggest complaint that I hear about living in Cuba is the “” transportation “”. Even though 1000 buses and 100 train engines have sent from China, it still took 3 hours for my friends to travel by bus from Cardenas to visit with us in MTZ.
