The tourist resort Jardines de la Reina (Queen’s Gardens), on the northern keys of eastern Ciego de Avila province, is an ideal destination for nature lovers.

According to experts, Jardines de la Reina is likely to become a world referral destination, due to the unique characteristics of its marine flora and fauna.

Precisely, those options attracted some 400 naturalists from Italy, Great Britain and the United States, who traveled to Cuba this year under the auspices of the Cuban-Italian association AZULMAR.

During their stay, they enjoyed diving and sports fishing, and released fish like shad and “macabí”.

Experts from the travel agency Cubatur noted that AZULMAR has made great contributions to taking care of Cuba’s coastal ecosystem and preserving the environment through educational programs for vacationers.

The geographic isolation of the keys and islets that make up Jardines de la Reina allows for the proliferation of sponges, mollusks, crustaceans and more than 100 varieties of fish.

Something is wrong with this news. Or it refers to Jardines del Rey in northern Ciego de Avila or to Jardines de la Reina in southern Ciego de Avila and Camagüey.

Dear Filippo:

Your paper states: “The tourist resort Jardines de la Reina (Queen’ Gardens), on the northern keys of eastern Ciego de Avila province, is an ideal destination for nature lovers.” I agree with you in all but the geographical situation. “Los Jardines de la Reina” (and also the “jardinillos” in southern Camagüey) are not “the northern keys” of Ciego de Ávila, but the southern. At North are the “Jardines del Rey” where there are new tourist resorts and also a virgin nature. See the web page that you recommend.

Best regards and thanks for loving the nature of my country.
