Havana.- The Trinidad-Sancti Spiritus tourist region, in central Cuba, reported a 17.3-percent increase in revenues from the leisure industry last year.

Local tourist authorities pointed out that last year’s revenues totaled over 30 million dollars, an increase of 4.5 million dollars compared to 2002.
The Trinidad-Sancti Spiritus region, which holds two of the first seven villages founded by the Spanish conquistadors in Cuba, received 170,000 foreign visitors in 2003.

Travelers to the region mainly came from Germany, France, Canada, Italy, Great Britain, Spain, Holland and the United States.

The tourist development of the region, which has 1,682 hotel rooms, is the result of high-quality services, and good advertising and commercialization of its offers in international events.
