Havana.- Excursions linked to the sugar industry are highly demanded by foreign vacationers who visit Jardines del Rey, in eastern Ciego de Avila province.

Jardines del Rey’s tourist options include excursions to sugar factories and sugarcane fields, a major sector in Cuba’s economy.

The tours consist of a visit to the cultural and historic sugarcane complex in Moron, as well as a trip on a train pulled by a steam locomotive.

The highly demanded excursion, called “Tras las huellas del az˙car” (Following Sugar’s Imprint), received the Silver Ibis Award at the 7th Annual Fair recently held in Jardines del Rey.

Other favorite excursions among foreign vacationers are the Jungle Tour of mountainous areas in the municipality of Florencia, and a nautical excursion on a catamaran.
