Havana.- The Cuban beach resort of Varadero, in western Matanzas province, will expand its infrastructure this year after the inauguration of two hotels.
Varadero will have 15,000 rooms by this year’s end, after the opening of the two five-star hotels.
One of the establishments is the 434-room Grand Lido Varadero Hotel, whose construction is near completion and will be inaugurated for the 24th Varadero 2004 International Tourism Convention, scheduled for early May.
The other hotel is the 396-room Iberostar Palace, which is scheduled to open in December.
Construction works are underway in the 395-room Blau Hotel, which will be Varadero’s tallest building with 14 floors, and in lots six and seven. The latter will have 452 rooms and will be located in the northernmost tip of the Hicacos Peninsula.
