Sol Meliá released an announcement of its company’s commitment to tourism development in Cuba, where the company now operates 25 hotels with a total of 10,444 rooms.
Gabriel Garcia Llabrés, Marketing and Sales Manager at Sol Meliá Cuba noted that the company is proud to have pioneered the management and marketing of hotels in Cuba.
Sol Melia Cuba’s experience began twenty years ago with the opening of the Sol Palmeras in Varadero which made it the first international hotel company with a presence in the country.
In a meeting with tour operators, travel agents and specialized journalists, Garcia affirmed that Sol Meliá books 21% of Cuba’s hotel rooms, 31% of the country’s accommodation capacity in four and five star hotels and receives 30% of all visitors traveling to Cuba.

Sol Meliá Cuba continues to seek out the most demanding customers in order to attract them with products of very high standards such as its Royal Service and YHI spas, highly personalized attention and its exquisite culinary offerings.
He highlighted the recent opening of Meliá Buenavista, the first five star all Royal Service hotel. This resort, located in Cayo Santa Maria, is only for adults over 18 years old and excels for its deluxe junior suites, spa, personalized butler service and exclusive natural surroundings, including three exotic beaches.
Sol Meliá Cuba’s Commercial Manager emphasized the company’s commitment to a form of “tourism whose main premise is the attainment of sustainable development.”
