TWO friends aim to raise £10,000 for charity by cycling across Cuba. Michelle Woodhead, 36, and Jules Hobson, 38, of Upperthong, start their adventure in January. The pair have already netted £1,400 and have organised many more fund- raising events.

All the cash will go to the National Deaf Children’s Society. Michelle said: “We are always giving to charity and we really wanted to participate in something like this. “We are both mothers. We both have children of our own and we count our blessings. Ours are OK.”

The pair fly from London to Havana before beginning the 400-mile five-day Cycle Cuba Challenge across rugged terrain. Both have had mountain bikes donated by their friend Mike Gallagher.

Anyone who wishes to sponsor the pair for their challenge or wishes to donate some cash can contact Michelle on 01484 685155.
