Havana.- Cubana de Aviacion, a leading airline on the largest Antillean Island, inaugurated a new air route between Canada and Cuba.
The route links the Canadian city of Montreal with Camagüey’s international airport, in eastern Cuba.

The flight, which will have a weekly frequency until August, is commercialized by the tour operators Tourmont Royal (TMR), from Canada, and Sol y Son, from Cuba.

Cuban tourist officials pointed out that the new air route is of major importance for the ongoing summer season, when many foreign vacationers travel to Santa Lucía beach.

The Italian airline Lauda and Sky Service, from Canada, also land at Camagüey’s international airport, which is expected to receive an Air Europe weekly flight from Milan this month.

Santa Lucía, which has 1,000 rooms for international tourism, is one of few tourist destinations in Cuba when transactions can be made in euro since June this year.
