Las Terrazas tourist complex, in Cuba’s westernmost province, Pinar del Río, is promoting a new option that consists of excursions to the ruins of El Contento farm.

The farm is one of few English coffee estates built in the country in the 19th century and is located in Sierra del Rosario.

According to experts, the program consists of a walk with a guide who explains the history of British citizen William Orse, who settled in the region in the 19th century.

During the 7,000-meter walk among the forests and pastures, vacationers learn about the diversity of the ruins of old estates.

The excursion ends with a refreshing swim in the San Juan River, one of the many destinations in the area, also known as Las Terrazas community, an experience aimed at boosting tourism-based rural development.
