Havana.- Jardines del Rey, a tourist destination in eastern Ciego de Avila province, hopes to break its record number of visitors.

According to experts’ predictions, 170,000 vacationers will visit that tourist resort in 2003, after only ten years of operation.

Jardines del Rey, in Cuba’s northern keys, was so successful this year in part from its presentation at international events, as well as its sustained increase in service quality and extra-hotel offers.

An international airport in Cayo Coco and the increase in connecting flights with other Caribbean destinations, which have provided more access to that resort, also led to those results.

The holding of several initiatives, such as music festivals and a sculpture symposium have contributed to attracting new tourists.

This way, new tourism segments are attracted to Jardines del Rey, one of the fastest-growing destinations in the largest Antillean Island.
