Havana.- Holguín, one of Cuba’s fastest-growing tourist destination, is strengthening its position in the Caribbean Island’s leisure industry, reporting a steady growth in tourist arrivals.

According to preliminary statistics, Holguín has reported a 64-percent increase in tourist arrivals since January.

That trend shows the preference of foreign vacationers arriving every week at Frank País International Airport, which receives 50 flights a week, mainly from Canada and Europe.

Sources from the Tourism Ministry office in Holguín pointed out that nearly half way along the so-called peak tourist season, the region reported a record number of visitors for one day: 8,069 vacationers.
