New tourist options are being promoted in the Guanahacabibes Peninsula, in Cuba’s westernmost province.

In that regard, experts said that the construction of a heliport will contribute to increasing tourist arrivals from Mexico, as direct flights will be available between Cancun and that western province.

They recalled that a 40-minute flight would connect the beaches on Mexico’s Caribbean coast with Pinar del Rio.

The program to develop tourism in that Cuban province includes the construction of hotel rooms in Maria La Gorda and Las Tumbas, in addition to the promotion of scuba diving in Los Morros.

The Guanahacabibes Peninsula has 22 excellent beaches and seven areas where at least 1,500 hotel room could be built.

Maritime navigation in the region will also benefit from operations in a marina that will provide its services to boats sailing nearby.
