Pinar del Río, Cuba’s westernmost province, offers several options for vacationers interested in the region’s nature and environment.

According to experts, the organization of ecological trails favors that tourism modality, in addition to contributing to protecting unique species of the region’s flora and fauna.

Most of the trails are located in Viñales, Soroa, the Guanahacabibes Peninsula and Las Terrazas complex.

Those attractions include the diversity of the local flora, bird-watching programs and geological aspects related to the formation of the region’s relief.

The experts noted the San Juan River trail, which is three kilometers long on the mountains of El Salton and El Taburete.

That program includes the ruins of the coffee farm La Victoria, rustic countryside houses and springs of sulfurous waters.
