Havana.- The Playa Pesquero Hotel, Cuba’s largest tourist complex, has set a record number of vacationers staying at the hotel for one day since its inauguration.
The recently opened establishment, situated in the eastern province of Holguín, received 970 guests in its 944 rooms in one day.
According to executives from the group Gaviota, which owns the five-star hotel, most guests come from Canada.
However, other nationalities are increasing their presence at the hotel, especially European vacationers.
The Playa Pesquero Hotel reproduces the region’s sugar and railroad culture, with old steam locomotives at the entrance.
The hotel offers its guests a wide range of gastronomic options in its three smorgasbords, which can sit a total of 900 people, and two a-la-carte and two informal restaurants.
