Havana.- Cayo Largo del Sur, one of Cuba’s major tourist destinations, has increased its lodging capacity to over 1,100 rooms, after the opening of a new hotel for foreign vacationers.
Visitors from Canada and France inaugurated 218 rooms at the Barcelo Cayo Largo Beach Resort, owned by the Cuban group Gran Caribe and run by the Spanish consortium Barcelo.
The new facility, the fourth of its kind in Cayo Largo del Sur, consists of a three-story main building and two-stories bungalows.
The four-star hotel will allow local tourist authorities to implement new initiatives, including clients’ active participation in culture and environmental protection.
The 306-room hotel will be working at full capacity by February.
