The tourist resort Jardines del Rey (King’s Gardens), north of Ciego de Avila province, has reported a drastic increase in tourist arrivals.

According to statistics from the tourism sector, tourist arrivals rose 25 percent from January to November 2004, compared to the same period last year.

In addition, 200,000 vacationers are expected to visit the resort, as part of Cuban tourist authorities’ efforts to reach two million visitors this year.

Experts said that stability in commercial management and more vacationers from Canada, Great Britain, Italy and Argentina have contributed to these good results.

Moreover, the resort’s hotels and extrahotel facilities were ready to receive vacationers during the peak tourist season.

During the period, which will close in April 2005, hotels and villas on Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo will receive more visitors than during previous seasons, due to an increase in flights and hotel reservations.
