Havana.- The Gran Hotel and the Club Santa María Hotel, in eastern Camagüey province, were upgraded to three stars due to the improved quality of services provided in those tourist facilities.

Experts from the Ministry of Tourism decided to upgrade the hotels’ categories due to their excellent conditions and services for international tourism.

The eclectic Gran Hotel, located in the historic heart of the city of Camagüey, is the flag hotel of the Cuban chain Islazul. The hotel’s guests mainly come from Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Great Britain and Spain.
For its part, the Club Santa Lucía Hotel belongs to the chain Cubanacán and is jointly run with the group Gran Hoteles del Caribe. The establishment is opting for the Entrepreneurial Excellency Award of the Republic of Cuba, and receives guests from Italy, Germany and Canada, mainly.

The categorization process currently involves ten hotels in the country, and there are prospects to expand it to the entire network of establishments linked to the leisure industry.
