Cuba had received two million foreign vacationers until November 17, a result that shows the tourist industry’s steady growth.

According to tourist authorities, the two-million mark was reached 40 days before that record was set last year, thus paving the way to receive 2.3 million foreign vacationers this year.

In statements to reporters, Cuban Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero noted the good results, despite the worsening of the world economic crisis and adverse weather conditions.

In that regard, he recalled that Cuba is an excellent destination for vacationers seeking safety and health, as well as culture and architectural values.

As part of the authorities’ actions to promote tourism, Marrero announced the holding of the 16th International Tourism Fair of Havana next year.

Regarding the Island’s hotel infrastructure, the Cuban minister said that a program to repair hotels is underway with an eye to improving the quality of services.
