The promotion of e-commerce is a priority in Cuba’s economy, as authorities are interested in benefiting from the potentialities of new technologies.

According to experts, e-commerce in Cuba is in a preparatory stage that will show significant results three or four years from now.

One of the companies involved in that modality is CITMATEL, which runs a virtual shop and provides web design services.

The Light Industry and Culture ministries are also involved in e-commerce to commercialize some of its products.

In addition, the Cuban Institute of Civil Aeronautics is ready to sell plane tickets on the Internet, and the Ministry of Tourism will create conditions for tourists to make hotel reservations on line.
