Ciego de Avila’s Leisure Industry Sets Record in 2003
Havana.- The leisure industry in eastern Ciego de Avila province set a record last year.
In 2003, the province, where Jardines del Rey is located, received over 170,000 foreign visitors, and had revenues of 106 million dollars.
According to a report from the Tourism Ministry Office in Ciego de Avila, the province had over 20 million dollars in profits last year.
The largest number of travelers who visited Jardines del Rey came from Canada, in addition to Great Britain and Germany.
Jardines del Rey International Airport, in Cayo Coco, received 132,000 travelers and an average of 18 weekly flights during the year.
Among the airlines that fly to Jardines del Rey are Air Canada, Sky Service, Air Transat and Jets-go, which depart from Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa and Halifax, in addition to Thomas Cook from the United Kingdom, and Blue Panorama from Italy.
