The Cuban tourist resort of Cayo Largo del Sur will receive over 50,000 tourists this year, breaking its own record of 41,400 foreign vacationers.

Tourist authorities pointed out that revenues are expected to reach 25 million dollars in 2003.

By this year’s end, they said, a 300-room hotel will be inaugurated in Cayo Largo del Sur under the management of the Spanish chain Barcelo.

Cayo Largo del Sur has 819 rooms in four hotels, two of which operate under management contracts with the Spanish consortium Sol Meli.

As a result of Cayo Largo’s advertising strategy, seven international flights arrive in the key every week, a figure that will increase to ten flights during the upcoming winter season.
