The entrepreneurial group Campismo Popular, which is in charge of promoting the development of popular camping sites in Cuba, will open new facilities this year.

According to company executives, El Cerro de Casimú camping site will open soon in eastern Las Tunas province.

Similar facilities will be inaugurated over the next few months in Banes (Holguín) and Baracoa (Guantánamo), where campers will stay in tents.

The investment program also includes the creation of the infrastructure necessary to improve water supply to camping sites in Pinar del Río, Villa Clara, Santiago de Cuba, Granma and Havana’s northern coast.

In addition to traditional options, Campismo Popular will offer excursions to places of historic and cultural interests, including Isla de la Juventud (Isle of Youth) and the village of Trinidad.

More than 100 construction works are underway to boost popular camping and create new recreational alternatives for the people.
