The third annual “Big Game Trolling” Jardines del Rey fishing tournament will run from October 15 to 20, based out of the Cayo Guillermo International Marina in Ciego de Avila Cuba.
Local sources from the Ministry of Tourism said the event seeks to develop the local nautical and fishing potential and other fishing related activities.
Anglers and amateur fishermen, fans of Cuba sport fishing may participate in the tournament, whether they are marina Club members or not.
The registration fee is 350 CUC (convertible pesos) per crew of one to four fishermen. Crews can rent a boat for this four and a half day Cuban fishing tournament for 1,800 CUC. The boats can be booked until September 20, 2012.
This tournament will award first, second and third prizes, according to the number of points accumulated, and a prize for the first catch and largest marlin.
The schedule will consist of registration, captain meeting and welcome reception. There will be three full days of fishing with a day off after the second full day. The awards ceremony and farewell party will wrap up the tournament. Single and double rooms are available at preferential prices at the Sol Meliá Hotel Jardines del Rey.
Tournament rules and Regulations
According to CubaWeb.cu, the tournament will be governed by IGFA rules with line allowed to 60 pound test.
The tag and release method will be used. The time, team number, species name and the area in which it occurred, and also a photo of the fish with the tag attached.
Each crew and members of the jury will carry a nautical chart or a map of the fishing area which will be respected and will be used to represent the catch.
