Cuba’s westernmost province called Pinar del Río is home to the magnificent orchid gardens in Soroa Cuba.
This lovely countryside region is seventy kilometers west of Havana and offers a beautiful twenty two meter waterfall and stunning little mountains called “mogotes” because of their round tops
Soroa is named after two Spanish brothers, Lorenzo and Antonio Soroa Muñagorri who arrived in Cuba in 1856 with the hope of making a fortune as coffee producers.

The Jardines del Rey fishing tournament kicked off the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Jardines del Rey tourist destination in Ciego de Avila Cuba this past week. Jardines del Rey is the area consisting of Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo on the north coast of Cuba.
The tournament consisted of eleven people in five teams representing Canada, UK and locals from Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo.
In three and a half days, five boats caught twenty nine fish including sixteen marlin and twelve dorado ranging in weight from thirty to fifty pounds.

Cuba Continues to Receive Tourist Flights
Tourist Flights from the and Europe continue to arrive in full with vacationers who picked different local tourist centers in the country, where there are some 30, 000 tourists at present, according to sources from the Cuban Tourism Ministry.
A flight from London’s Thomas Cook Tour operator landed on the island on Wednesday, with vacationers who selected Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Coco keys, on the northern coast of Ciego de Avila province, as their holiday destinations. Other flights from and are scheduled for Thursday, with vacationers who booked rooms at Varadero tourist center.

The Abel Santamaría International Airport in central Villa Clara province is benefiting from investments to improve the quality of services.
Works will include paving the 3,000-meter-long runway.
Airport workers are committed to reducing the time passengers stay at the airport to handle 20 flights a week during the peak tourist season that runs from November to April.
The airport was enlarged to receive 600 passengers, three times more than before remodeling works were undertaken.
European and Canadian airlines fly to and from the Abel Santamaría International Airport, using large planes that can sit more than 300 passengers.

Beaches in central Sancti Spiritus province have been cleaned and improved, as part of authorities’ actions to develop the southern coast.
According to sources from the tourist sector, facilities have been created to improve conditions and accommodation for beachgoers.
At La Boca beach, works included the remodeling of roads and improvement of gastronomic services. The causeway that leads to Ancon Beach was restored as well.
In addition, lockers and street lighting will be repaired, and the area will be reforested with native species, among other actions.

The promotion of e-commerce is a priority in Cuba’s economy, as authorities are interested in benefiting from the potentialities of new technologies.
According to experts, e-commerce in Cuba is in a preparatory stage that will show significant results three or four years from now.
One of the companies involved in that modality is CITMATEL, which runs a virtual shop and provides web design services.
The Light Industry and Culture ministries are also involved in e-commerce to commercialize some of its products.

A new marina, first of its kind in the country, was opened this week in the municipality of Gibara, Holguin. This is part of the activities to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the introduction of camping in Cuba as a popular recreational activity.
The marina, located at “Bayado” beach, has 42 aquatic media, donated by the Ministry of the Interior, which will be operated in Cuban currency.
