Well known Cuban blogger Yoani Sanchez has been very active lately blogging about everyday life in Cuba and she has posted an article about how people can assist the Cuban blogging movement in Cuba.

She says her request goes out to “citizens of the whole world and rests on the solidarity among people that has nothing to do with political stripes or ideological preferences.

  * Link to the blogs from Cuba.

  * Spread the Cuban blog articles.

  * Invite alternative bloggers to participate.

  * Lend a hand in the administration of blogs.

  * Support all Cuban bloggers, not just Yoani.

  * Buy cards for accessing the internet for Cubans.

  * Get digital media storage devices to Cuban bloggers.

  * Give mobile phones and funds for usage.

  * Give laptops and computer accessories.

  * Give software.

  * Give digital cameras and video recorders.

  * Give digital recorders for interviews and telephone recorders.

  * Give books about citizen journalism.

She suggests giving these products directly to the Cuban bloggers without intermediaries.

She is calling this movement “Oxygen for Cuban Bloggers”.

The Havana Journal proudly supports Yoani and the “alternative” press in Cuba. Unfortunately, due to the US Embargo, computers cannot be sold to Cuba but you can donate these items.

If you are interested to donate in some and would like more information, post in the comments below or send us an email.

If you have the means for delivering such supplies to Cuba, please post in the comments below or send us an email.

Yes!  We must do all we can to help YOANIS SANCHEZ which is fighting for her rights as a citizen in a country where there are no rights and where speaking of “liberty” can land you in a dungeon for years to come.

But last and most important, send money to allow Yoani to live well and set an example of living in a dungeon??  It is not what one says but what one does like taking money from SINA to spy and write that can hurt you.

The money we give to the Cuban bloggers is to help them be independent from the Cuban government.  In Cuba, the average person (including a journalist) makes $12 to $15 per month.  I have a friend that sends $1,000 monthly to 10 different bloggers.  With this money, these people are FREE to only write and organize all over the island.  It’s the biggest blow to CASTRO’s dictatorship.  I, myself, currently help someone be independent.  With the money I send, my family member does not have to work for anyone.  She currently organizes cells of people who openly denounce what goes on in Cuba.  If anyone doesn’t like it, so be it, because it’s getting better and things are just starting.  This is the beginning of the end for the Castro mafia family.

get your facts straight…enough of your propaganda. just speaking out can get you locked up in Cuba. just expressing your desire to have a better life can get you 2 years in prison. Lucky your not in Cuba (or are You), here you can speak you mind and even spread your lies without fear of imprisonment.

Oh my!  I think people in this chat room have some cerebral disorder.  All I said was that we need to help the Cuban bloggers to be independent so that they can keep the world informed about what is really going on.  And what do I get?  I am instantly attacked, pounced upon.  Geepers!  Someone need to go out and release all that stress.  Has anyone tried sex?

Arsis,

What are you talking about? No one has even addressed you.

Your comments are fine.

Also, any reason why you are posting from three different IP addresses?

Naturally, those that are part of the regime have no difficulty in accessing the whole of the internet and e-mailing to their hearts content as this expose of “Tony” Castro makes clear:
