IS FIDEL CASTRO DEAD? - MORE RUMORS?

Here’s what I am reading:

BREAKING: FIDEL CASTRO IS DEAD from BabaluBlog.com. As of 3pm Eastern time first responders are on alert in Miami.

An Official Announcement Is Coming posted at PerezHilton.com. Sources reveal exclusively to PerezHilton.com that U.S. officials will be holding a press conference shortly to announce the death of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. (Sure he is a celebrity gossip columnist but he is a Cuban American so he does have a personal interest in this news.)

GENERAL ASSERTS POSSIBILITY OF RAUL’S DEPARTURE FROM CUBA from CubaPolidata.com. “Quevedo Pérez also made the assertion of the possibility that Raúl Castro might leave Cuba for Spain.”

Barba Cucaracha from KillCastro.com. “UPDATE: Let’s update at the first line, for a change: Apparently, there are indications in Cuba about an imminent announcement. It can be a government launched rumor, but it can be true, too. Let’s see what happens from now to the end of the day!

We’ve been getting some reports from both Havana and Oriente about a “estado de alerta” in which the “organizaciones politicas y de masas” are being put since midweek. We are under the impression, even though we haven’t been able to talk to anybody who has actually seen the body, that the end of the race for El Barba Cucaracha is really close, if he didn’t cross the finish line into Hell already.”

Fidel Death Watch Many updated forum posts.

I have received information from two sources that say Miami is on high alert so I am getting confirmation of city wide first responder preparations.

UPDATE at 5:14pm Eastern time >>>>>>>

Rumors of Castro’s death spread through South Florida from WSVN. “MIAMI (WSVN)—Rumors circulating South Florida of Fidel Castro’s death are unfounded according to multiple sources.

FOX News cites multiple officials at the White House saying there is nothing to back up rumors coming out of Miami that Fidel Castro is dead.

WSVN’s assignment Desk has received several calls regarding Castro’s rumored death.

According to Miami Police Chief John Timoney officials are in contact with the FBI on an “hourly” basis. “

(That’s it? Is that a non-confirmation denial… or is that a non-denial confirmation?)

UPDATE at 7:44pm Eastern time >>>>>>>

From BabaluBlog.com: “As of right now, there is no official confirmation from the Cuban government or any US agency, although numerous sources in numerous branches of US agencies have confirmed the title of this post as true.”

and thanks to BabaluBlog.com:

Miami in a tizzy over unfounded rumors about Castro’s health

UPDATE at 8:06pm Eastern time >>>>>>>

I am going to call it. Fidel Castro is NOT dead. There. I got the scoop of the night grin

UPDATE at 10:14pm Eastern time >>>>>>>

Update from BabaluBlog.com saying that Castro is NOT dead. So, you heard it here first as posted above. Fidel Castro is NOT dead.

He may be dying or unofficially dead. By that I mean that if Fidel is dead that only a VERY few people know it and people even outside Fidel’s hospital room don’t even know it and are really just speculating that he is dead.

With that said, the pressure is on Fidel Castro the man to show himself in public UNLESS the Cuban government has orchestrated the perfect quiet death of Fidel which will lead to an announcement someday that Fidel has been cremated and that Raul is quietly the new President of Cuba.

Honestly though, it’s anybody’s guess as to what is really happening and what the “day after” will be like. I’ll let you know if I hear or read anymore but for the past couple hours, nothing.

UPDATE at 10:14pm Eastern time >>>>>>>

Just got a call that people are starting to gather in the streets of Miami for a celebration. This may just be a celebration of tonight’s rumors. Still there is no confirmation for the main stream media.

Stay tuned to this article. I will update with any credible information that I receive.

think this can be turned into a soap?
as I mentioned before I’m an avid BBC news watcher/listener.  Not one word that i’ve noticed.  Noting on the Canadian news (rememebr a lot of Canadians vacation there).  not even that there is a rumour frenzy - maybe because its being created here .....

No media outfit in Europe has picked up the news, another wknd another rumour. I just keep praying this one is true. Don’t forget that Cubans in Cuba will be the last ones to find out and the BBC are quite pro-Castro. Best bet are foreign diplomats and businessmen stationed in Havana, I have already deployed my contacts but nothing is coming up

Just for the record BabaluBlog.com has claimed that Fidel is dead here

What a night!

and Perez Hilton has claimed that Fidel Castro is dead.

Both are Cuban Americans and would be doing a huge disservice to their community and reputation if they are simply speculating.

The Havana Journal has been notified that Fidel Castro is NOT dead so we have NOT YET claimed that Fidel is dead.

Personally, I think he is in a coma and being kept alive by life support machines. He may die from someone pulling the plug or simply from natural causes.

I would speculate that Fidel fell very ill very quickly but that the doctor were able to stabilize him on life support so now he is NOT dead but on life support. That scenario would fit into all these rumors of his death.

So, maybe, for all intents and purposes, Fidel Castro is dying but on life support. That’s my take on these rumors.

All of this speculation could easily be avoided if the Cuban regime was bright enough to issue timely and accurate updates.  But old habits re information control are hard to break.

it’s a game they are losing…. sooner or later they have to do more than release (old or ghostwritten) essays, old video clips and clips of Chavez having said hi to his old buddy - you can only do that so long.
Despite being “news deprived” , I think by now most Cubans have figured out that Fidel is not just simply recovering from his operation.
