The Palace at Santiago, With Part of the Plaza

This was for many years the headquarters of the Spanish Government for the province, and since the close of the war it has been occupied by the Americans for the same purpose. The flag over the entrance is the one first raised in Santiago, which caused the trouble between General Shafter and a newspaper correspondent.
