THE 14th Cuba-United States Friendshipment Caravan, headed by Lucius Walker, arrived in Havana on Saturday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.

At Jose Martí International Airport, the leader of the Pastors for Peace confirmed that the caravan members are fully aware of the emphasis of the government of his country on provocations against the island, and for that reason they have come in a spirit of solidarity in representation of the U.S. people.

He commented that during the caravan’s journey through the United States they organized activities around the release of the five Cuban political prisoners of the empire.

Walker added that on this occasion the caravan is to meet up with the Venceremos Brigade in Habana province and that both organizations have been defying U.S. policy by coming without licenses.

During its journey to Cuba, the 14th Friendshipment caravan visited 115 U.S. cities and has brought an 80-ton consignment for Cuban elderly people, as well as school busses and ambulances.

During their stay on the island, which concludes on July 28, the 125 members are to undertake an intensive program of activities in Habana, Granma and Santiago de Cuba provinces, where they are to attend the central event for the 50th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada Garrison.

The caravan members were received at the capital’s airport by Sergio Corrieri, president of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples, and Reverend Raúl Suárez, director of the Martin Luther King Center.

The official reception of the 14th caravan is today, Monday at the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp in the Habana municipality of Caimito.

FIVE HEROES SEND MESSAGE TO PASTORS FOR PEACE
GERARDO Hernández, on of the five Cuban patriots unjustly imprisoned in the United States, has sent a message of thanks to the 14th Cuba-United States Friendshipment Caravan on behalf of his comrades.

Reverend Lucius Walker, the leader of this religious foundation that is once again visiting the island, highlighted the significant stimulus for caravan members to receive greetings from the valiant anti-terrorist fighters, Radio Rebelde announced today (AIN).
