Venezuela expert journalist Kejal Vyas is reporting in the Wall Street Journal that Hugo Chavez has admitted that the tumor removed from him in Cuba was the size of a baseball.

This admission by Chavez himself is further evidence that he will not be able to govern Cuba as he has in the past.

Chavez himself admitted that he will have to delegate responsibility and will not be able to be as active in governing Venezuela as he has been for the past 12 years.

Rumors are that Chavez has colon cancer but no one has confirmed that yet.

From the Wall Street Journal article:

“I’m in a second stage of the sickness, which is an organ-by-organ assessment and other factors of which I should not give more details,” Mr. Chávez said. He added that he may need to go into the third phase of medication, “which could be a little hard” and would likely include treatments like “radiation or chemotherapy.” Mr. Chávez suggested the cancer hadn’t spread beyond the initial tumor, describing the cancer as “contained.”

Chavez went on to say that he has lost about 30 pounds and blamed his previous unhealthy lifestyle for his cancer. He said “I used to drink 40 cups of coffee a day and walk around with three mobile phones.

...is this meant as it says, or an editing error?

That’s the way I read it.

Here is the line from the WSJ:

“The 56-year-old former tank commander, and one-time baseball pitcher, also suggested that he will need to play a more hands off role in government, a drastic change from the leader’s typical role as a micromanager in virtually all matters of the country.”

    and

“That was another era…I must learn to delegate,” added the president, known for his frequent, hours-long public appearances.

There was talk of Chavez going to Brazil for cancer treatment but he will be in Cuba today to start cancer treatment.

How long will he be there?

Will he get Escozul as part of the treatment?
