I took these photos on a recent trip to New York City.

The USS Maine monument is located at Columbus circle at the south west corner of Central Park in Manhattan, New York City.

It is across from the CNN/Time Warner building and Trump International

This is a VERY impressive monument with several statues around the base and a magnificent gold covered statue at the top.

So, here we go. This is the street map of the location, Columbus circle.

This is the satellite view. I set up the A marker on Google maps so if you search Google maps for USS Maine Monument, you’ll find this marker.

Here’s the plaque that says “USS Maine destroyed in Havana harbor February 15th 1898” and “This tablet cast from metal recovered from the USS Maine”

and statues on either side:

This statue is around the back on the north side. It reads “The freemen who died in the war with Spain that others might be free”

This is the front/south facing statue. I don’t understand the meaning of the young boy.

...and just above this you find the awe inspiring golden memorial to the men who died on the USS Maine in Havana harbor:

“To the valiant seamen who perished in the Maine by fate unwarned in death unafraid”
