Russia has urged the United States to lift its economic blockade of Cuba and normalize its relations with that country, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement after the participants in the 60th UN General Assembly session passed a resolution on the U.S. blockade.

The ministry recalled that the resolution, which condemns the U.S. economic, trade, and financial embargo of Cuba, was passed with an overwhelming majority of votes on November 8.

“Delegates from many countries who spoke at the session condemned the embargo and called on the U.S. to lift it immediately,” the ministry said.
