General Raul Castro, Second Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party (CCP) Central Committee and First Deputy president of the State Council and the Council of Ministers, will visit Viet Nam shortly.

The visit is part of his Asian tour which will also cover China, Laos and Malaysia. General Raul has left Havana for China.

A formal announcement carried in the Granma newspaper, the mouthpiece of the CCP, on April 15 reads that General Raul and his entourage will hold meetings with the top leaders of the countries to be visited and have tours of socio-economic, military institutions and historical sites there.

These visits are meant to strengthen and expand the friendship and cooperation between Cuba and the countries, the announcement says.
The delegation also includes Revolution Commander Ramiro Valdes Menendez, Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque, and Chief of the CCP’s External Affairs Commission.
