Bayamo.com has sent us their Cuban currency poster so we wanted to share this with our Havana Journal readers. This is not a paid advertisement other than the fact that we received a complimentary poster.
They have designed and produced a museum quality Cuban currency collectible print poster suitable for framing that features a collection of vintage denomination bank notes of $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, $500 and $1000.
The authentic 1949-1950’s series Cuban bills were scanned in high resolution and are specifically:
$1 Dollar Bill : 1949 Jose Marti
$5 Dollar Bill : 1950 Maximo Gomez
$10 Dollar Bill : 1949 Carlos Manuel De Cespedes
$20 Dollar Bill : 1950 Antonio Maceo
$50 Dollar Bill : 1958 Calixto Garcia Iniguez
$100 Dollar Bill : 1950 Francisco V. Aguilera
$500 Dollar Bill : 1950 Salvador Cisneros Betancourt
$1000 Dollar Bill : 1950 Tomas Estrada Palma
Inscription on the front side of the poster:
“The cross culture influence between the United States and Cuba is remarkable. The American experience of the 1940’s and 50’s were pervasive throughout every aspect of Cuban society as was the Cuban influence in music and sports in America . Automobiles, consumer products, a variety of popular television stations and a middle class work ethic espoused from Christian values. Cubans in general had a sense of freedom, liberty and a representative constitutional form of government.
The American Banknote Company, a US Corporation, had been minting Cuban-Spanish currency for Spain prior to the Spanish-American War. El Banco Nacional de Cuba, Cuba’s National Bank, began to replace silver certificates of preceding issues as demanded. The samples of Cuban currency displayed herein will serve as testament to a once prosperous Cuban culture. ¡Que Viva Cuba Libre!” © 2008 Bayamo Productions All Rights Reserved
