I will update this article as new people are announced as part of President Elect Obama’s staff and related leadership positions. I have made this article “sticky” which means that it will stay as the top story until I decide to “unstick” it from the top spot. I will update the date in the title when I add a new person.
I will do my best to find their voting records and any public comments they have made in the past regarding Cuba so we can all discover how these new people think…

This article touches on two points taken from Sean Penn’s interview with President Raul Castro; Raul Castro’s interest to meet with President Obama and Raul Castro’s subservient behavior to Fidel Castro.
From what I know of Sean Penn, he is a real left wing Liberal socialist and outspoken hater of President Bush. I always discounted anything I heard him say.
Then I read this article he wrote for TheNation.com regarding his personal interviews with Hugo Chavez and Raul Castro. After reading the article I still think Sean Penn is a left…

The fiftieth anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, to be celebrated on January first 2009, is the cultural travel theme of a tourism package being sold by Cuban and Argentine travel agencies. The Cuban cultural and history tour will include visits to the mausoleum of Ernesto “Che” Guevara in Santa Clara and to Fidel Castro’s birthplace in Biran Cuba.
Marlene Martinez from the Ecotur travel agency in Cuba said that the tour will be filled with trips to social and political destinations along with plenty of information about the Cuban Revolution that took place from 1953 to 1959 that ultimately…

I thought that the photo shown in our recent article about Chinese President Hu meeting with Fidel Castro seemed to show Fidel Castro looking differently… as in a blank expression on his face and a very different hair style. Also notice how tightly Fidel is holding on to Hu AND Fidel’s mouth is closed. Where is the fire? Where is his energy? Remember, these photos are right from BejingDaily.com.cn so these are the BEST propaganda photos that they could put out there… the BEST photos. I wonder what the worst ones look…

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez released a statement that he received a letter from President Raul Castro on Sunday and will announce the date of the Cuban leader’s visit soon.
Chavez said today that the visit could take place by this weekend and added that he was honored by the fact that President Castro chose Venezuela over Brazil, China, Russia and other countries to be his first official destination outside of Cuba.
It was reported in September of 2007, before Raul Castro officially became President of Cuba, that he made a secret trip to…

I gave up reading CubaNet.org a while back because they only posted negative stories about Cuba. Well, I figured I would check in to see what they are posting these days. As you can see below they are still posting all negative news but with that said, I believe that it is factual and deserves recognition here. This site should be read by pro-Castro readers to balance their love for Fidel Castro and Communism in general.
I believe they have numerous sources inside Cuba reporting these short news stories. These sources are…

President-elect Obama’s advisers are quietly crafting a proposal to ship dozens, if not hundreds, of imprisoned terrorism suspects to the United States to face criminal trials, a plan that would make good on his promise to close the Guantanamo Bay prison but could require creation of a controversial new system of justice.
During his campaign, Obama described Guantanamo as a “sad chapter in American history” and has said generally that the U.S. legal system is equipped to handle the detainees. But he has offered few details on what he planned to do once…

Cubans already reeling from two devastating hurricanes this year woke up to scenes of yet more destruction.
The first pictures coming out of Santa Cruz del Sur, where late-season Hurricane Paloma made landfall Saturday evening as a Category 3 storm, reveal a cat’s cradle of wooden beams and bricks - all that is left of this city of some 10,000 people.
A massive evacuation operation protected lives here where nearly 76 years ago to the day a hurricane left 3,000 dead.
One million Cubans in central…
