Birthplace of Cuban national hero Jose Marti

Does anyone there know the name of the artist who created the bust of Jose Marti (in bronze)? It has been reproduced countless times in plaster of paris and other materials and when my wife attended the Instituto de la Habana there were reproductions in some of the class rooms.
About 25 years ago I contacted the widow of the artist’s assistant and she gave me some information that I cannot recall. We have one of the original bronze castings and the woman I spoke to years ago said very few were made.
