Cuba Education Tours warmly invites you to join them on one of eight official Cuba trips in the fall of 2008. Their island expeditions are seamlessly organized by Cuba Education Tours staff in Havana and Vancouver Canada to ensure you squeeze the most out of every precious minute on the island. Each of their people-to-people cultural programs is elaborately described on http://CubaFriends.com In the meantime, here’s a taste of what they have waiting for you:

HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS (October 11 to 18, 2008) will explore all facets of the island’s system of free medicine. If you liked the glimpse into Cuba’s acclaimed medical services Michael Moore shared in his blockbuster “SiCKO,” you’ll have eight days to see it first hand, and much more, on this annual tour. The program is designed for health care givers, proponents of universal coverage, and champions of wellness. While on the island you’ll meet your professional peers and have ample time for discourse on medicine and Cuban life. Practitioners should treat this as a tax-deductible professional development trip that qualifies as CEU and CME.

BALLET NACIONAL DE CUBA 60TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR (October 28 to November 7, 2008) will take place during a week of tribute performances by this world renowned troupe still led by it founder, living treasure Alicia Alonso, Cuban prima ballerina assoluta, choreographer and artistic director. Participants will enjoy more ballet over eleven days than with a season pass at home. Gala events and festivities in special venues across the metropolis make this a once-in-a-lifetime ballet extravaganza. Dozens of international dances schools and their students will be in attendance, and so should you.

ESL CUBA VOLUNTEERS (November 8 to 29, 2008) is the only opportunity on the island for compassionate North Americans to work one-on-one teaching Cuban youth English at the primary and university level. Volunteers return from this three-week odyssey describing it as a life-changing experience. They make enduring friends with their students, their families, and Cuban co-teachers. They get to know island culture inside out as is only possible when immersed in the community. This program is limited in size and now nearly full.

NATURAL AND HISTORICAL CUBA (November 22 to December 1, 2008) is a chance to witness the island’s spectacular nature and history up close and intimate. It is a perfect getaway for nature lovers, birdwatchers and people keen on organic agriculture. Prominent Canadian naturalist Bernie Solymar leads the program. With him and your Cuban guide you’ll learn all about Cuba’s commitment to ecology and preservation of the environment. Hone up on island flora and fauna, and ready your camera to capture tropical nature in action on this once-a-year outdoors romp.

DANCE IN CUBA / BAILA EN CUBA! (November 22 to 29, 2008) features one week of Salsa, Rueda de Casino, Rumba, Son and Cha Cha Cha classes taught by Cuban masters with accompaniment by the island’s best bands. Your teachers and musicians top Latin dance halls-of-fame and music charts. It all takes place in Havana during the Annual International Latin Dance and Music Festival! You’ll return with a dance diploma and hot new Latin moves to share with your friends. Hundreds of Latin American dance champs will attend and compete at special events. Treat yourself to this trip.

TEACHERS INTRODUCTION TO CUBA (December 27, 2008, to January 3, 2009) is for educators and their partners to examine the island’s top ranking school system that provides free life long learning to all. The program is not limited to the three Rs. Beyond the basics, you’ll imbibe in the best of island music, dance and culture for a one-week “course” rich in humanities. It’s a program hard working teachers deserve and its expansive content qualifies it as a professional development opportunity, and in some cases is tax-deductible. Cuba can truly claim no child is left behind and mean it. You’ll usher in the New Year with Cubans on this most historic of occasions!

50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CUBAN REVOLUTION (December 27, 2008, to January 3, 2009) is for optimists who believe, as Cubans do, that a better world is indeed possible. It is for those who view change as a process that comes from the bottom up; for those who need an infusion of hope and an inoculation against the harsh toll consumer society demands. It is for skeptics who seek confirmation that dreams can become reality when people of all colors unite and rise together. Havana extends an invitation for all to join hands with the people of Cuba and celebrate their momentous decision of fifty years ago to create a society based on human potential. In this tour you’ll witness five decades of cultural and social achievements. You’ll be part of an epic event you’ll recount fondly for years to come.

LUXURY DISCOVERY AND ADVENTURE TOUR (December 28, 2008, to January 4, 2009) is geared to travelers who want to escape this season’s hustle and bustle and spend the holiday having fun in the safest and friendliest country in the hemisphere. It’s luxurious because you’re pampered in the best accommodations on the island. It’s adventurous because you’ll explore tropical nature from the white sand beaches of the Caribbean Sea to the jungle mountaintops of the Escambray Range. It opens doors to discover a wealth of culture from museums to dance and music to stunningly elegant colonial architecture. It is our only all-inclusive program—five star treatment throughout—the best hotels, entertainment venues, transportation, and the finest dining on the island.

DON’T FORGET THE KIDS! Cuba Education Tours helps teachers and parents organize short-term study abroad programs for students to Cuba. They come home energized academically and inspired to engage civically as a result of the example they glean from their Cuban peers. Visit http://HelloCuba.ca and review trips other schools take to the island.

Many American friends of Cuba Education Tours ask if they can go to Cuba too, and legally. Yes, they can! And, Cuba Education Tours is glad to help. Their website http://www.canadacuba.ca details the process in several simple steps. There is no better time to visit Cuba than now. Cuba Education Tours invites you to come down and bask in the warmth of Cuban sun and culture, and the welcoming embrace of its kind outgoing people.
