A group of British art-lovers have recently returned from a painting holiday in Cuba and have been sharing their photos and experiences with those of us who were left behind.

The group tour was organised by Paint Cuba and returned to the UK in early December having spent eleven days in Havana and the Vinales valley.

During their time in Havana they stayed in the historic part of the city where they were able to soak up the atmosphere of this UNESCO world heritage site.
One of the highlights of their time in Havana was a visit to the Cuban Section of the National Museum of Fine Art
(Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes) which offers a detailed examination of the history of Cuban painting and sculpture, including everything from portraits of Spanish colonists to revolution-inspired works.

Five days were spent sketching and painting with Cuban artist and tutor Jesus Gastell in the Vinales valley.
Participants described him as an excellent teacher who was particularly sensitive to their individual needs as developing artists.

The group was fortunate to be in Havana for a performance by the Cuban National Ballet of “Pictures at an Exhibition” which they attended on the last night of the tour.
Earlier they visited the highly rated jazz club, La Zorra y El Cuervo (The Fox and the Crow).

Anyone interested in looking at some of the photos of their trip can go to where they can be found on the Photo Gallery page.
