More and more people in Cuba have been seen wearing white rubber bracelets with the word “Cambio,” the Spanish word for “change”.
It’s a story out of Cuba, but it has garnered response from U.S. lawmakers in Washington D.C.
At least 60 people have been arrested on the communist island this week for sporting the bracelet.
The latest group was picked up in Havana after they attempted to protest Cuba’s most recent elections.
U.S. Rep. Mel Martinez spoke out about what he calls a violation of civil rights on the island.
Cuban residents said they received the bracelets through the mail from the Free Cuba foundation, which is based out of Miami.
Many Havana Journal readers have requested these bracelets. I have offered to purchase some and will offer them for free here if/when I get them.
