HAVANA—Fidel Castro signed a lengthy weekend essay saluting a historical Cuban political figure but giving no hint of how he is feeling, even amid rampant rumors of his demise.

Castro’s essay, the latest in dozens of ’‘Reflections of the Commander in Chief’‘ columns he has published several times a week since late March, was signed Saturday evening and appeared in the Communist Youth newspaper Juventud Rebelde the following morning.

Thanks for posting. I saw that and added it to an article I titled “Another Reflection from the ghost of Fidel Castro”.

I seriously doubt that he wrote this Reflection and maybe not even any of the recent ones. If he did write it, I would say that it was written many weeks or even months ago.

I expect many “evergreen” type Reflections to be released either written by Fidel or written for Fidel or written as Fidel. Either way, these Reflections seem like a desperate attempt to be important IF Fidel is writing them.

I’m surprised that the Reflection did not end with “PS. I am not dead”.

Fidel has not written anything in his life- except “La Historia me absolvera” circa 1953.

Check out what the “Gorila Rojo” Chavez is saying…Chavez is already talking in the past tense!

Remember the Spanish saying: “Muerto el Perro se acabo la Rabia.”

I believe this will apply in this case.

Doing a little research I just found out that “History Will Absolve Me” was not a book Castro wrote, but it was the transcript of the speech he gave during the trial for his Moncada murders in 1953.

So my suspicion that this “Hijo de Pura” has not written anything in his life, and I doubt that he started writing after his 80th birthday.

Dude is dead . They just have not sorted out the announcement and the succesion. They have a connundrum. When bearded guy did not make an apppearance or do a radio speech on his birthday I became convinced he had passed away. It won’t be announced until the entrenched powers sort out the way to make a proper announcement and have a state funeral;  while keeping the masses in check and in control .
But make no mistake about it…... an era has ended

Probably true but they have had a year to plan. Perhaps the plan is not going according to plan?

i still find it hard to believe that they would be keeping his death secret at this stage - would bring nothing in my eyes.

I equally find it hard to believe that Fidel is writing these essays yet cant find it to stick his head out a window to wave HI!

I subscribe to the theory that he is still alive (albeit on life support or very close to it).  Mind you - that theory is no more backed in facts than anybody else’s.  Still every day that passes will bring us one day closer to finding out what’s going on.

Alkarajo:
Just for the record-
1)Your name is hilarious
2)Fidel wrote History Will Absolve Me in secret ink while in prison and memorized it and then presented it as an hours-long interrupted speech to the judges in his trial.  Whether you like him or hate him, he is clearly a good writer and has been since his days as a lawyer and a radical.

I never made a judgementt of whether Fidel can write or not. I have never heard of the invisble ink stuff - but he is very smart so he probably was capable of doing what you claim.

My point is that “La Historia me Absolvera” was the only writing that was attributed to him - and it was from 1956.  Now he is writing everyday in the newspaper - I do not believe it.

By the way he just wrote this:

“Castro’s tip: Clinton-Obama the winning ticket”

Obviously this is a pointless argument, but he’s written tons of papers, maybe you’re trying to say he never wrote a book?  As we all know, his speeches go on for hours, and his writings are well documented and numerous.

I will now immerse myself in alcarajo.com, assuming I can access it here at work.
