I was in Habana Vieja several years ago and it struck me as the world’s largest museum. Things are literally “set in stone” and I don’t see it changing much in a post Castro post Embargo Cuba.
Do you think Habana Vieja will be preserved in a post Castro post Embargo Cuba?
Of course it needs a face lift and safety upgrade but I don’t think there are many people in the WORLD that would even think about putting up skyscrapers in old Havana.
Any thoughts or knowledge about UNESCO and development restrictions would be interesting to read about.
No… is it odd that I’m just the one posting throughout the forum? Don’t you think I need a little credit rather than asking me that question? Because as you can see, there is nobody posting as often as I do. Anyway, if you want me to stop posting here, just say so.
might not be too wrong there.
I would like to point out that as part of my holidays there this summer I’ve now made several videos of Old Havana including statues, monuments, Gran Teatro, Capitolio, and more to add.
So the ‘museum’ is now online at http://www.junglejam.tv
The point of these videos is to let me people see and learn about the subject in question and its not merely an exercise to show-off my hols. Ive seriously researched the information behind each one and referred to any sources. Ive also added video guides of Santa Clara, Trinidad and Cienfuegos. If anyone has anything to comment on I would be than happy. In the meantime, enjoy the future of geo-located information.
