One of the most pleasant families I have stayed with is in Santiago de Cuba. It is operated by Carmen Blanco and MArtha Martinez. They rent out a room in a lovely open Colonial home; the bathroom and shower are immaculate; the food delicious, you receive complementary coffee and they treat you like family.
