Hi,
I’m an English bass player who has been playing upright for 2 and a half years or so and am interested in finding a way to to come and study in Cuba?
I am also a music technology teacher and would hapily provide a recording and workshop service to kids or adults.

http://www.do-it.org.uk/youthnet/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=455&a=10458 This is the closest thing I’ve found. I went last year to learn conga percussion and really want to go back and learn more. Hope this helps.

Doubledave, best of luck on your effort… Congadude, I’m heading to Cuba in a week to learn the conga. It would be great if you could recommend any people/schools I should look at…

mani6ue, you must go see Frank! I met him and Rolando playing @ the jazz club in Verdado the 2nd night i was there. He can be found @ Verdado, Calle 19 #962, apartmento 303 on the corner of Calle 8y10, phone 8339497. He has a friend who owns congas nearby. Frank is a Cuban jazz drummer but also knows a lot of conga stuff. If you see him, say hi from Craig (de Australia), he may also be able to put you onto other congueros! Good luck and have fun!!

Doubledave, I’ll ask the conga players there about bass teachers - I’m sure they’ll know something.
