Here is a newsletter that we recently sent out to members:

Dear Havana Journal member,

Welcome to another one or our very periodic newsletters. We have been posting many news and information articles lately at http://HavanaJournal.com and in our Cuba Forum at http://havanajournal.com/forums/ so have a look around if you haven’t been by lately. So, what else is new?

1. Cuba Select ranking featuring top 24 Cuba related websites in the world
2. HavanaTimes.org exposed as Cuban government propaganda
3. Havana.biz featuring Cuba Stock Index, Cuba domains and consulting

1. Our proprietary Cuba Select Ranking Report featuring the top 24 Cuba websites in the world

Havana Journal Inc produced the Cuba Select Ranking Report to identify and quantify the top Cuba related websites in the world. All the information regarding the selection criteria are in the forum post and we have posted the raw data for all to compare and verify. We ranked sites by Alexa traffic ranking, Compete traffic ranking, Quantcast traffic ranking, monthly visitors, number of pages in Google and more. If you know of a site ranking in the top 24, please let me know.

Here is the list, alphabetically, NOT the order of rank:

Forum Post: http://CubaSelect.com domain posts to the forum post for easy reference.
Raw Data: http://havanajournal.com/images/cuba-select-2009.htm link is in forum post.

2. HavanaTimes.org exposed as Cuban government propaganda site by Havana Journal Inc.

With a title like “HavanaTimes.org is pure Cuban government propaganda” our readers get a pretty good idea what the article is about. For casual readers of HavanaJournal.com, the new website HavanaTimes.org was launched with the slogan “open minded writing from Cuba” by Circles Robinson and the translator for a Cuban media site. Neither person has a large presence at the site and neither one acknowledges to their readers that they work for the Cuban government. So, we felt obligated to tell their readers that the site is written by Cuban government workers and monitored or at least influenced by the Cuban government.

Also, since we registered HavanaTimes.COM many years before they registered the .org version, we are now pointing HavanaTimes.com to HavanaTimes.org.

We are motivated by their collective interest in all things Cuba and we are looking forward to a great 2009 where we just might finally have a post-Embargo and/or post-Castro Cuba.

There are so many stories lately about Raul Castro, Obama and his transition team, all the organizations calling for an end to the Embargo we couldn’t take the time to list them all.
