I am interested to create slide shows and movies of the following subjects:

- Architecture, Pre-1930 structures as it exist today and yesteryear (if you have images that old)
- Art Deco buildings of Havana, other locations
- Art Deco Gates, doors, entry ways and anything that attached to structure(s)
- Cuban culture, people, life style (current, past)
- Cuban art, music,
- Cuban cars, transportation today (need hundreds of photos)
- Cuban designed interiors, furniture (current, past)
- Cuban industry of any kind, IE: sugar cane growing and processing, small businesses of any kind

In order to create slide shows or movies, I need permission to use your photos.
The finished shows are NOT for profit and no monetary gain will be allowed.
All produced shows may be used free by anyone as long as no monetary gain realized.
Credit will be given to all image sources at the end of all produced items (your name or website).
Finished productions will be made available at our website (under construction)

Please forward this message to anyone who have interesting photos of Cuba.

I saw some of the images.
For some reason it’s very slow and sluggish to see them.
Maybe my end has a problem, I don;t know.

Found HavanaArchitecture.org earlier.
I;ll do a slide show with what I have right now and post it.
Perhaps it’ll give people a better understanding as how images in a well made slide
presentation can be more effective than just posting individual images.

About marking pictures.
I don’t agree on clouding an image with copyright or any other things.
I also understand the nature of protection one takes for those images.
But it takes away from the effectiveness.
Hence the slide show method use where it’s difficult to ‘lift’ an image.
You can lift the entire slide show, but the
credits are part of it and can not be removed ....  easily.

In a few days I’ll have a link here to see a sample slide show.

We have not enabled any photos. Let me look into it.

Doors are always large in most parts of Europe as well.
It has to be ornate and massive to give substance to an entry.
So, the Cuban doors are just a copy with modifications of the European doors.

I wish I could buy all those doors and bring it to the US. There is a huge market for old doors like those, no matter what condition it is.

Dude, We are on opposite sides of the fence here. Taking any cultural treasure or architectural artifact is something I am ardently against, be it in Cuba or anywhere. Particularly with a poor country like Cuba though. Here is a website you should study:

Look at it this way Dude, would you kill an elephant for the ivory? Rape a girl because she was a hoittie? Salvage a roof for the copper? You see these artifacts are recyclable in other parts of the city and believe me they do recycle them. People might say that Habana is falling apart but it is also being rebuilt much as a forest does after a fire. The fire is bad but the Cubans have done a remarkable job of repairing and conserving what they have. Each visit one sees more and more be it a plaza like San Francisco or a old residence in La Habana Vieja. It is a war with many battles and the tide literally ebbs flows and has an effect.

      If you get to Cuba you will find some things that impress you greatly not just the architecture nor the 50’s cars. Cuba’s most precious resource is it’s people, they truly are unique. You will find people quite different than in a US major city center. If you are in New York, DC, Chicago you see people at rush hour hunched over looking at the ground, rarely does anyone meet your eyes. Conversely in Habana everyone meets your eyes, there people who often do not have two kilo in their pockets are positively strutting or bopping down the street. Big smiles, shoulders thrown back you can hear the chatter, it is alive. Point being is the Cubans can stretch a dollar and even all but the rare exception have a “can do” attitude that seems to affect the entire community.

    I prefer a photo safari, admire a beautiful painting or woman, and allow the poor to recycle their copper. I don’t look to make a profit on something that is not mine. Cuba is also against this gluttonous display of capitalism. If they allowed the doors to be salvaged their would be no collection for the world to appreciate. The same is true with the rejas, the stained glass, lamps etc. It is a case of not seeing the forest through the trees. Like an interior decorator who is untrained verses an architect who is. The decorator sees opportunity the architect
sees restoration.  Sorry to rant, but this is a sensitive subject for me and others. I hope you will come around to our way of thinking. Go to Havana and see what I am talking about.
