Goddard Center Acquires Painting From Arte de Cuba For Permanent Collection

The Goddard Center for the Arts of Ardmore, Oklahoma has acquired a painting by: Alfredo Rodriguez Cedeno of Bayamo, Cuba.

The painting was acquired through and the Eastern Cuba Cultural Exchange. The center is headed up Maria Parrott who with the help of staff and community support has put this Art Center in Ardmore, Oklahoma on the cultural map of great venues for the community and the state.

The CUBA ORIENTE: CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS FROM EASTERN CUBA exhibit handled by Meridian International Center of Washington D.C. and on loan from Clyde and Brigid Hensley was well received in this Historical City of Ardmore. Maria Parrott (director) believes it was one of the best attended and most exciting exhibits the center has had in recent memory. The film “Luminous Shadows, The Artists of Eastern Cuba” was also screened in the centers state of the art theatre. After the film a wonderful reception with Cuban cuisine was hosted by the center. Prior to the reception an interpretive dance recital was preformed by a local dance ensemble based on the Cuban Paintings that were exhibited.

Clyde And Brigid Hensley attended the event at the invitation of the community.
