Ernest Hemingway’s House-Museum, at Finca Vigía, is benefiting from capital restoration works by Cuban experts.

The works are being carried out by professionals from the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana, and include an evaluation to assess the constructive state of the building.

According to the experts, Cuba’s humid and warm weather has affected the roof, one of the main structures to be restored on this occasion.

The estate, which the Literature Nobel Prize winner bought in 1940, also has a wooden bungalow, a swimming pool and a nave where his yacht Pilar is kept.

After Hemingway’s death, his widow, Mary Welsh, donated Finca Vigía to Cuban authorities.

The museum exhibits more than 22,000 articles that belong to the US novelist, including 9,000 books, brochures and magazines.
