Canadians enjoy Hockey Night in Cuba

Posted January 02, 2005 by publisher in Cuba Culture.

Tropical breezes, Pina Coladas and hockey? That’s right. For those of you missing the National Hockey League, the El Senador Resort in Cayo Coco, Cuba, is hosting its fourth annual Tropical Hockey Tournament, Jan. 8-22.
Guests get to play in daily friendly pick-up games of ball hockey, as well as mingle, get autographs and take pictures of former NHL greats.

Among those in attendance will be Johnny Bower, tournament organizer and ex-NHL referee Bruce Hood, Pierre Bouchard and Yvon Lambert. The El Senador Resort is owned in part by former Montreal Canadiens’ great Serge Savard.
