Cuba’s biotechnology industry exports its products to more than 50 countries and has laid the foundations to preserve human health.

Officials from the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center, in Havana, pointed out that works in that field have been acknowledged in European, Asian, African and Latin American nations, as well as in the United States and Canada.

They added that Cuba has research institutions in several provinces, in addition to Havana’s Scientific Pole, which is made up of 52 centers.

The Caribbean Island produces 8 of 13 vaccines administered to Cubans, in addition to promoting works in a score of biotechnology projects.
