Artists from Four Countries at Trova Festival

Havana.- Eastern Santiago de Cuba province will host the 42nd International Trova Festival this month.

According to sources from the organizing committee, artists from Japan, Mexico and Spain, in addition to the host country, will attend the meeting.

The city of Santiago de Cuba, considered the world birthplace of “trova” (Cuban ballads), will welcome the group Sones de Oriente, from Japan, and the sextet Cuarto Son, from the Canary Islands, Spain.

Cuba will be represented, among other renowned artists, by singer songwriter Pedro Luis Ferrer and his group, El Guayabero and his group, and the quartet Vocacion.

Researcher and experts interested in debating on Cuban popular and traditional music will also attend the festival.

The program also includes musical gatherings, serenades and tributes to renowned personalities linked to the development and boom of this popular musical genre.
